Marge Foran, RDH, COM has been practicing as a registered dental hygienist since 1980 and in the Helena community since 1984 as a hygiene graduate of Carroll College. In the past she has been a clinical instructor affiliated with the Carroll College Dental Hygiene Department and the MSU College of Technology Dental Hygiene Department. She initially became interested in orofacial myology in 1986 when she took a continuing education course and utilized the techniques she learned to help her son eliminate a digit sucking habit. Several years ago she completed an intensive training course and clinical internship in the theories, clinical applications and therapeutic techniques of orofacial myofunctional therapy with Kimberly Benkert of Midwest Orofacial Myology of Chicago, Illinois. She then recently advanced her studies at the Coulson Institute of Orofacial Myology in Denver, Colorado. She has passed a rigorous written exam and an onsite evaluation for certification through the International Association of Orofacial Myology. Marge has many years of experience working with patients of all ages in the dental hygiene practice setting including eleven years as a library manager at St. Andrew School.
She is an active member of the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM), the American Dental Hygiene Association (ADHA), the American Academy of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry (AAPMD), the Montana Dental Hygiene Association (MDHA) and the Lewis and Clark Dental Component.
The Montana Dental Hygienists’ Association named Marge Foran as the recipient of the 2013 Community Leadership Award in September, 2013 for her extraordinary service to the field of dental hygiene and contributions to the community through the field of orofacial myofunctional therapy.
Marge Foran, RDH and Kim Benkert, RDH were given the Presidential Award of Excellence for a poster titled Infection Control for the Orofacial Myologist at the annual meeting held in Washington, DC October 2013.
Marge is the first and only certified orofacial myofunctional therapist in Montana to specialize in the management of orofacial myofunctional disorders. She is delighted to provide orofacial myofunctional therapy to the Helena community and the surrounding areas.
